    Have you tried messages for Mac? It pretty cool you can download it here it is in its beta stages do it is going to be buggy.http://www.apple.com/macosx/mountain-lion/messages-beta/
    Also Check out Mac OS X 10.8 that is going to come out this summer.http://www.apple.com/macosx/mountain-lion/

    I just installed messages on my iMac and it is pretty cool. I wish that they would allow you to buy it for lion in the app store once mountain lion comes out.
